Other civilizations include Byzantines (Paladins, Heavy Camels, Hussars, Cavalry Archers, and their Unique Unit the Cataphact- they'd be right up with the Persians but they lack Blast furnace which makes their units attack for less), Mongols (awesome Hussars with extra hit points, and awesome cavalry archers, Heavy Camels, but no Paladins), and Saracens (extra hit point Heavy Camels, Hussars, Cavalry Archers, Unique Unit Mameluke, but no Paladins). If you like Cavalry, Persians have to be the best civilization for you hands down. I also believe they have all cavalry related technology upgrades.

Persians have the best cavalry as a civilization, Hussars, Paladins, Heavy Camels, Calvary Archers, and even their Unique Unit the War Elephant is listed as a cavalry unit. So really they don't have that great of a cavalry arsenal, however because their Paladins are so awesome they are probably higher up the chain than say, Turks, which have Hussars and Heavy Camels but lack the Paladin. Franks have awesome Paladins but no camels or hussars. Players have yet to find ways to make these civilizations pop in online matches, but it's likely their positions will move around as players become more experienced running them.Important to note that the OP is asking for civilizations with the best cavalry, not a single cavalry unit. The Chinese may be the most difficult civilization to pilot, which has made their place in the meta game hard to gauge accurately. The Holy Roman Empire excels on water maps, and if they can secure three relics before their opponents they snowball so hard as to be all but unbeatable. Kiting with their Mangudai unique unit is also very hard to deal with. The Mongols are extremely difficult to play, but their economy is quick to establish and very hard to disrupt. Their Counsel Hall and King's Palace Landmarks are some of the best in the game. The English are just a solid all-around civilization that focuses on defense. They can also move through the Ages quickly, and have cheaper Villars thanks to Fresh Food. The Abbasid Dynasty benefits hugely from its Camel units, which counter the Knights fielded by both the Rus and the French. Their late-game upgrades are also really powerful, enabling them to start and finish strong. Rus, on the other hand, is great at controlling the hunt on the map and harassing enemy villagers and camps. France's early dominance isn't hard to explain, as it's also one of the simplest civilizations to pilot and their cavalry is both available early on and powerful throughout the game. The two most popular and successful civilizations in the Age of Empires multiplayer scene right now are the French and the Rus. Today we're gonna play Age of Empires IV all day! We'll be playing the more straightforward French today as we learn the general gameflow of AoE4 - Sean Plott OctoAge of Empires 4 Best Civilization: Early Tier List S Tier - French, Rus Just a few days out from Age of Empires IV's release, here's a general sense of how the community ranks each civilization. Still, there are some civilizations that seem to perform better against the rest, and as the metagame develops, those civilizations will rise to the top. (If you're looking for the rundown on all eight options in the game, we have a guide here.)

The game has so many variables and potential strategies, choosing a single civilization as the hands-down best in all situations is a likely impossible task. Photo courtesy of Relic Entertainment/Xbox Game StudiosĪge of Empires IV's best civilization will always be an open question. Age of Empires IV's best civilization may be the French or the Rus, but that's sure to change as the meta develops.
